So, the thing nowadays is when you go to purchase a portrait of your children, the photographer will sell you a number of digital images or files that gives you the opportunity to reprint the images yourself. In actuality what happens as busy moms (I'm one of those) is that it gets stored on a drive or on the computer and we have to literally be intentional on making sure that we're going back and looking at them if we hadn't printed them out or making sure that we do print them out. Then life sets in and we forget about those digital images and they're just somewhere on our computer or on a drive to be forgotten about.
I had a mom come in the other day and she explained this perfectly to me as we were looking at portraits of her two boys. She said, “my thing is purchasing portraits of my sons, no matter what we do.” She was explaining that she has these beautiful wall portraits that our studio has been able to capture over the years of both of her sons.
She also has pictures of where her family has traveled on vacation. She continued to explain that there is a certain map on her wall where she's displays her candids of those vacation memories all around. She told me that every time her kids look at their portraits or look at those fun times on their vacations, they're always smiling and they get excited and they want her to tell them or remind them of their memories. “They really gravitate to those printed portraits and pictures.”
She likes the digitals and yes she will purchase those as well. But she said, “I really forget about them because they’re not right in front of me!” It's so important to her and especially to her children, that they're printed and displayed on the wall.
So it is important! If you're not going to display and print these memories and portraits for yourself then do it for your children because they do want to remember those memories and those good times with and of their family.
Portraits Vs. Digital Images
It's so important to your children for you to display your portraits and memories of your family.
