I Do!!
March 11, 2000 was the best day of my life. That rainy afternoon was the beginning of a wonderful life God had designed just for me and Alex!
It started at the studio with family portraits. Alex and I decided to see each other before the ceremony. Yep, that’s right! We are very traditional but we never agreed with that particular wedding tradition. We didn’t want our moment to be in front of a lot of people but be more intimate.
We actually had “our moment” the day I chose my wedding gown. I had “the gown” on, standing in front of a mirror when all of a sudden Alex walked in the door with a big smile on his face and I burst into tears. We hugged, kissed, and giggled for what seemed like forever. That was a special moment!
After our family portraits we headed to the church for all the group shots and to get ready for the ceremony. I’ll never forget seeing my dad right before he walked me down the aisle. He told me he loved me and I looked at him and said, “I love you too but don’t you make me cry!” We both giggled.
The music started and the sanctuary doors opened. I could feel everyone’s eyes set right on me as I walked down the aisle but my eyes were fixed on Alex. He was so handsome and I couldn’t wait to say, “I do!”
I kept telling myself, “don’t cry! DON’T CRY!” Because I knew if I started then I wouldn’t be able to stop. I was doing great up until Alex started saying our vows. Right in the middle of speaking his voice cracked! He almost cried and I lost it; the flood gates began to flow and I could barely say my vows.
The best part was when our Pastor announced us as Mr. and Mrs. Alex Hyman! I was finally his wife!! Then he gave me “the kiss”; the very first kiss as his wife. Best Day Ever!!!
